"Matt Holtebeck and his team assisted me in getting my own car insurance when I moved out of my parents' house. It had not navigated that on my own before and he was patient and understanding. "My previous carrier raised rates significantly so 6 months ago I decided to get quotes. I had several companies quote our insurance needs including Holtebeck State Farm. One particular point of interest for us was coverage for ice shoves because we own a cottage on lake Winnebago and had incurred damage once before. The Holtebeck agency informed me that if we were to purchase earthquake insurance our cottage would be covered for ice shoves. OK....seemed weird but that is what we were told. With that in mind we decided to pay hundreds more per year because we were under the impression that our cottage would get the coverage we wanted. Just before the renewal for the cottage came due I decided to check on the earthquake coverage with another State Farm agent. He informed me that earthquake insurance would not be beneficial for the cottage. There were other instances of mis-information, but this was the last straw. Why did he mis-inform us? Was it intentional just to get our business, or just plain incompetence. I'll let you decide that. I moved to a different State Farm agent, but in the end I am paying hundreds more per year for the same insurance I could have had somewhere else, and when trying to get new quotes to replace State Farm they are higher now because we have not been with State Farm very long. Do yourself a favor and avoid the Holtebeck State Farm Agency"

"Update: he’s still trash! Got a $30 a month (same plan) different and better company. He got all mad and short with me. Dude is nothing but a money grabber. Raised my car insurance without telling me, also hasn't responded when I have reached out about it.. oh forgot to add, they told me I had triple A coverage. But when I needed it, somehow I didn’t have it yet my cost keeps going up and up. Worst coverage you can ask for."

"Update- If I could change this to a 0 star I would. He called saying he didn't get a cancelation notice on 1 of my 3 policies. I contacted my new agent who immediately provided the email sent to his office & acknowledged by Shelly his assistant. It was clear, cancel renters, auto & business policies. When he got that message he said, yes I just confirming. He stated he didn't say it was not received. We all make mistakes. I have respect when someone admits to their mistakes. Matt just makes up lies. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GUY IS SLIMY OLD SCHOOL USED CAR SALESMAN!! In his reply he says yes, there's been lots of changes in the insurance industry. I was talking about the many changes in MY BUSINESS & him not reaching out as my needs change. ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS! I was with Matt for approx 20 years. My insurance needs changed dramatically over those years. Other than me calling Matt to let him know what changed in my life & make sure I had coverage. The biggest change has been a business I started 4 yrs ago. I feel it was his job to touch base once a year and review my needs, she what's changed, etc."
